Most Caucasian babies are born with blue eyes. This is because they have a small amount of melanin-the pigment that is responsible for eye colour.
People with blue eyes have the least amount of melanin and people with brown eyes have the most amount of melanin.
Caucasian babies start to produce melanin in first 6 months after birth. Their eye colour can stay blue or can change to green or brown as they grow older and more melanin gets deposited in their iris.
Sometimes the two eyes can have different colours. This is called heterochromia.
