Total fertility rate (TFR) refers to the average number of children born per woman if all women lived to the end of their childbearing years and bore children according to a given fertility rate at each age. According to the CIA, Singapore is the world’s least fertile country with a TFR of 0.82.

The same list, updated in 2016 also shows the most fertile country of the world is Niger, where the average woman gives birth to more than six children.

Factors like education, religion, maternal support, financial situation and health politics could affect the level of fertility in a country.
