DNA stands for Deoxyribonucleic acid, a molecule that is responsible for encoding the existence of living beings. It is present in all living cells, from single-cell organisms to multi cellular organisms.

The DNA is composed of units called nucleotides, whose combination gives rise to different organisms, and thus, human beings actually have some similarity with many other living things (both animals and plants). The banana, for example, has 50% of it’s DNA similar to ours while chimpanzees share about 98% of the human DNA.
