A proper hand wash is necessary to maintain good health and prevent illnesses. Frequent hand washing is known to decrease the risk of contracting many diseases.
What then is the proper way to wash your hands? Also, how many times should you wash your hands in a day?
A good hand wash should last for at least 20 seconds to ensure that your hands are clean. Wet them with running water and soap. Rub the palms, all the fingers and the back of the hands. Rinse in running water and dry, if possible, with a disposable towel.
The frequency of hand washing should be based on your own daily activity, but in general, this procedure should be done at least seven times a day. After performing activities like touching dumps, animals or toilets, and before activities such as cooking, eating or wound treatment, hands should always be washed.
